If your question(s) is not addressed below, please call us: . We’re here to help.

How much does a list cost?

  • We secure the most competitive pricing available, but costs do vary from list to list.
  • Most compiled lists range from $50/M-$80/M (M = per thousand) names.
  • Depending on the category, response lists range from $80/M for consumer files to $120/M and higher for business names.
  • All prices are for one-time use only, and do not include additional selection or format charges.
  • Selection charges range from $5/M to $30/M per selection.

How often can a list be used?

Lists are rented for one-time use only. Most compiled lists may also be rented for multiple or one-year unlimited use. Be sure to receive approval for multiple uses. If a prospect from the list you mail responds to your offer, that person becomes a responder, and you may mail them as part of your own house list without approval from the original list provider.

Do we guarantee deliverability?

With access to multiple list sources, we always select the most accurate and updated lists available. All compiled lists rented through us are 95% deliverable, guaranteed. A list must be mailed in full, and undeliverable mail must be returned to us within 60 days of the invoice date to receive credit. Our liability is equal to the list cost for names returned for each undeliverable mail piece over 5%, depending on class. We do not guarantee the accuracy of phone numbers.

What format can I receive my list in?

  • Electronic (email, FTP, bulletin board)
  • Diskette
  • CD-ROM
  • Galley/Sheet Listing
  • Cartridge
  • Pressure Sensitive Labels (4-across, peel & stick)
  • Cheshire Labels (4-across, unglued)

Are there minimum list orders?

Compiled lists have a $250 minimum. Most response lists have minimums of 5,000-10,000 names. If your needs are less, please call us at .

What is the difference between a response list and a compiled list?

Response lists are comprised of responders to direct mail solicitations (i.e. a magazine subscription, a mail order catalog, an email offer, a membership offer, etc.). A compiled list includes the names of consumers and businesses collected through a variety of sources, including surveys, directories, trade shows, and public records. Compiled records generally include a wealth of business and consumer profile date; as an example, a consumer's profile may include demographic data like age, income and household composition, as well as behavioral characteristics, like magazine readership, pet ownership, technology orientation, etc. A business profile may include occupation, job title, SIC (standard industry classification) corporate vs. divisional location, number of employees, sales volumes, etc.

What is a “merge purge” and do I need one?

Merge Purge is a data process that combines (merges) two or more lists and then removes (purges) any duplicate names. If you are renting multiple lists for your mailing, and/or have an existing customer file that you want to suppress from the new customer acquisition mailing, you should consider running the lists through this process.

What are “hotline” names?

Hotline refers to those names most recently added to a mailing list. In general, hotlines can be 30, 60 or 90-day adds. By specifying this recency, you should get an increase in your response rate as compared to a 12-month active name. A premium is typically charged for these names, ranging from $5 - $25 per thousand, dependent upon the specific list and hotline specified.

What is an SIC code?

An SIC (standard industry classification) code is a number that specifies in what industry a business/organization operates. There are 2-digit codes, which represent the broad category the company belongs to, and 6-digit codes, which are a more detailed definition.  As an example, SIC 61 = Educational services, and SIC 611110 = Elementary and Secondary Schools, 611210 = Junior Colleges, etc.

What do you mean by “nth name”?

Having your test list order represent a random sample of the entire list is critical to ensuring that your test results will be repeatable After all, that’s one of the primary reasons direct mail is so powerful! Taking an “nth name” is a selection technique for a list test mailing where the list owner selects names based on the size of the test sample in relation to the size of the list.
